Since 1997 dolls house and miniaturist enthusiasts in South Wales and in Swansea in particular, have had many of their hobbying needs met by the High Street business House Works.

Prior to the establishment of the business and as a miniaturist herself, Ann, who concentrates on recreating different periods of history through her dolls houses, all to often experienced difficulties in finding what she needed locally. Instead of bemoaning the fact, she decided to do something about it and, in addition to creating a lucrative business for herself that she runs with her husband Alan, is now meeting the needs of other miniaturists in the locality.

"Our shop is now probably the largest specialist supplier of dolls houses and miniatures in South Wales", she says "and has visitors from the UK and abroad".

A wide diversity of provision seems to be the key to the shop's success as it caters for all ages of enthusiast. With children's interests in mind House Works provide a range of houses, specifically for them with a choice of ready built items or flat-packs.

There are also accessories for them to make their dolls house complete with competitively priced furniture for every room and lots of items to excite their imagination.

For the adult miniaturist the range of period houses includes Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and Tudor styles and various shops and pubs. House Works stock houses from many of the leading manufacturers including The Dolls House Emporium, Angelsey, Barbara's moldings, Dolls House workshop, Sid Cooke and include both flat-packed kits and ready built houses.

A wide range of accessories such as stairs, windows, doors, and skirting boards are available, together with period lighting, sinks baths, soft furnishings, wallpapers, kitchen and shop utensils, working clocks and gramophones and much more. Furniture is available in many finishes and periods and there are a wide range of miniature dolls.
